Back from Canada

My colleagues and I are back from Canada! I've never been a fan of the Americas but this trip changed my perspective completely. Compared to the Asians, (most) Americans treat people and tourists with respect and courtesy; their level of service is genuine, funny, and unparalleled!

As close friends know, I prefer small towns and the countryside to cities, but Vancouver, Quebec City and Montreal are funky spaces with so much energy and consumerism that's bundled with soul (unlike in Japan where consumerism is disguised in oversized pretty boxes with a big bow tie).

Eating and shopping were the other two of my best experiences. I never knew food could taste so good at prices so affordable. The chefs were generous with their portions and each dish was chocked-full with fresh ingredients. Also, my favorite clothing stores such as forever 21, H&M sold lovely pieces for more prices much lower than here in Singapore. After fourteen days of good food, excellent shopping and beautiful weather, I think I've left my heart in the Americas. I hardly like visiting a country more than once (because there's so much of the world to see), but I'll definitely be back!
