Again, my dear friends from the office - who really make the office such a jolly place to be in -introduced me to something really marvelous!
Rich&Good cake is really rich and good.
A little research online came up with the two most popular flavours, kaya and durian. Already, the flavours had me drooling, no true Singapore would ever turn his back on kaya and durian, what more rich&good kaya and durian cake!!!!
Our favourite is the one that is stuffed with kaya. The kaya was creamy smooth and melt-in-your-mouth. I really liked that it didn't seem like the filling was a separate, distinct part of the swiss roll. It tasted doubly delicious after it had been properly chilled in the fridge two hours later. The durian was also very sedap. They claim to use 100% durian, and you could see the durian fibres sticking out from the filling. However, I noticed there was still a layer of cream between the durian filling and the cake, and this for me, took away some of the durian roll's magic.
G, being G of course was very skeptical, understandably, what could be so wonderful about this cake that his girlfriend made him take a huge detour from cecil street to Bugis through CBD traffic for?
But before he could yabber on, I popped a slice in his mouth, and that silenced him! :)
