one of many things that annoy me greatly

I probably rolled my eyes at least fifty times reading the newspapers this morning. First, it was just annoying how almost the entire newspaper was about the National day rally, its effects and how this will benefit some Singaporeans. I mean okay, fine, I get that, but doesn't the rest of the world exist as well?

And then flipping to the back of the newspaper where the forum page is, I had to read another bunch of crap about some whiny mother complaining that she has had sleepless nights as she fears for her son's life while he's in the NS, therefore she wants the SAF to tighten its safety procedures.

This is followed by more retarded requests by Singaporeans for even more 'sweet treats'. In fact there seems to be a standard begging-for-treats template that goes something like this  - "while I welcome the changes _____________, the government should consider _______________. This will  ________________.".

Sometimes I wonder if Singaporeans are truly feeling the heat from foreign talent or that they just cannot 'tahan' working with/under a foreigner either because he's PRC and they can't stand his/her accent or snobbish, especially when unemployment rates are so low. More so perhaps is the fear that foreigners are invading what has traditionally been the private space of Singaporeans - the HDBs.  To ahem, quote Terry Eagleton's "Ideology", "there is an apparent non-correspondence between ideas and reality".

So when the prime minister titled the first part of his national day rally "Policies & Politics", (which my dad very quickly pointed out stood also for PAP) and went on about how it was important to strike a balance between the two. I thought about how it was never going to be literally possible to strike a balance between the two, one being so disjointed from the other.

Anyway, I then moved to the home-section of the Straits Times where I read about the disciplinary action that will be taken against a JC teacher for insulting Singaporeans. And then very quickly, forums like these dug up everything they knew about this poor man. And then wondered just how many careers and 'rice bowls' social media has destroyed.
