Singapore Votes!

I woke up this morning a little more chirpy than usual. Not only did only did I not have to work, but also all Singaporeans were going to the polls today! The last 2 weeks have been a very exciting time to be in Singapore. It is so seldom that Singaporeans are so vocal when it comes to National issues.

After sending my youngest brother off to the army on Thursday, I marched to the Worker's Party rally in Serangoon stadium for one of the last rallies of this election season. I was prepared for crowds having experienced the 2006 rallies firsthand, but when I came face to face with these crowds again, the feeling was nothing short of being overwhelmed.

a stadium bursting at its seams.

Heavy traffic along a major road in a residential area - almost unheard of.

the crowds making their way in and out of the rally

This could almost rival Shinjuku, all we need are the black suits now.

there was a lot of cheering for the WP and jeers for the PAP.
It seemed as though everyone (Worker's Party supporter or not) wanted to be a part of this!

In less than an hour, the election results will be slowly be released as the votes are counted and tallied. No one knows what the outcome will be, it is hard to say even if the PAP incumbents will retain their seat at the throne, but come what may; the results are the mandate of the people.
