Change is what you make of it.

Change is in the air. Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Minister Mentor Lee Kwan Yew have both stepped down from cabinet to accolades from the media, supporters and even opposition party leaders - these "veterans"have made Singapore what it is today, and (most) people are grateful.

Many have surmised that this is a calculated move, a signal from the PAP to the people that it is, as George Yeo had promised, FOR change. Every co-operation needs to be shaken a little, now and then, as my boss says, 'so that new banyan trees may rise' to replace the ones who have left.

But change is also very seductive. Too quickly, humans get bored, tired and then frustrated with the status quo. Thereafter, they begin to lust after a good chili assam to kick up the heat. When they are at this point in life/time, "CHANGE" becomes very attractive.

Obviously change is good because it offers the hope that our fortunes could well, change for the better.

But realistically, Change is what you make out of it, after the dust and the initial excitement at the possibilities have settled. It also spells hard work and determination.

I'm beating around to bush just to say as covertly as possible that I think I am right now ready for some kind of change on a personal level.

I've quieten my heart, thought about it and have slowly come to accept and I dare say, even embrace what I was once so rigidly against.

The next few months will be new, fun, but also tough. I'll have to work very hard and hopefully have the opportunity to travel hard as well. The stakes are very high, but I've made these important and major decisions so I hope that I'll have the courage and tenacity to stick with this "change".

Everything is still "inside the boardroom" right now and all parties involved are still discussing plans, future plans and so on.

But certainly, whatever may be, I'll have to constantly remind myself of this General Elections's learning point - Change is also hard work.

Change unofficially begins on Friday, 3rd June - it is less than 3 weeks away. And there are just so many things to prepare for.
