With most of my family in Europe, I decided that now was the best time to try my hand at cooking: my mother would not know (and could not kick up a fuss even if she knew) if I screwed up and made a mess in her kitchen.
he first dish I whipped up with for G was a big breakfast a à la American. It may sound unbelievable to most people, but this was the very first time I tried my hand at scrambling an egg. I read on the internet that the secret to scrambled eggs was a hot greased pan, low heat and constantly folding the egg towards you as it cooks so soft curds would form.
I am totally bias, but I thought these were the best scrambled eggs I had ever eaten!
Just for fun, I sprinkled a generous amount of fresh mozzarella on halved buns before putting them in the toaster. I've never worked with mozzarella before and I wanted to experiment a little. I was pleased with the result but perhaps I would add tomatoes, onions, chopped slices of ham and sausage before covering the meaty, juicy goodness in Mozzarella and baking it! Sounds good, doesn't it?
I found myself at the stove again the next day when my good friend, A visited. She wanted something "simple and light" for dinner. And I immediately thought of my all-time favourite dish: steamed minced meat. Now, I've never created this simple dish before and I was worried it would not taste the way steamed minced meat should taste. But as it turned out, there was nothing to worry for, and we both enjoyed it very much!
