My latest gadget, a brand new iphone 4 vibrated against my table of cheaply stained plywood, filling the air with an incessant, dull whimper, soft but relentless and annoying. I grew impatient and glanced at the screen as the sounds trickled to a halt - it was A, and I had missed her call.
Now, the A I know does not call me unless she absolutely requires an immediate answer or if she thinks I would something more than 150 characters to say - so my interest was piqued - what could it be?
She told me to call her back - coursier and coursier- served only to heightened my interest.
I did as I was told without hesitation.
Clad in a starchy blue office grab, strapped and bounded by a thin leather belt, my hair in absolute disarray and my sweat glands working on overdrive, I receive A's generous invite to spend a night at a little island off Singapore, FOR FREE!
Well, we do have our respective schedules to work around and all that, but I'm psyched not really because its Batam, but because its a small vacation with A and because I'd do anything for a holiday (as far as not getting fired would get me).
Anyhow, time will tell if Batam is for real or not. And once A nods her head in affirmative, watch, as my mind and fingers work in tandem, going into an overdrive, ploughing the internet for "what to dos," "what to see"s and of course "what to eat".
And all this, thanks to A! :D
