a new notebook!

Some boyfriends spoil their girlfriends by buying them fresh flowers and stuffed teddy bears wrapped in baby pink crinkly paper, bundled into a bouquet.

Mine bought me my very first moleskin note book!

This is one of the rare gifts that he has made to me as we don't quite believe in gifting gifts to each other when we can buy our own things for ourselves, and probably make better, more useful choices.

So I was pleasantly surprise when G handed me a rectangular parcel.

Although I do feel its a bit of a waste to be spending so much money on a notebook, I love this gift very very much!

It's one of those things you secretly hope-to-own but would never ever spend a penny (of your own) on it as it seems like such a waste of good money. In fact, the most expensive notebook I own is 1/8th the price of a moleskin, and hey, it essentially performs the same function, doesn't it?

Anyhow, I was curious and ripped open the packaging as soon as I got home, anxious to discover the "feel the moleskin". And I was surprise to find that it sat in my hand quite differently from the other notebooks I've own: the binding is not too thick; the strap is equally thin and sits on the cover snugly; the fresh crisp pages flip open with relative ease (as though I've thumped through the book several times); it comes with an awesome expandable pocket that would be really useful for storing tiny note slips; each page sits in its places without threatening to flip over (wow!! i like this feature the most!)).

The verdict?

I like it very much though I'm still unconvinced I would pay for this!

Glenn says that its for me to pen my research notes into it (when I finally get down to it, of course!) haha!

that's really sweet.

Red for good luck, I say.

I do hope my plans to enroll in a Masters course in English Literature go through! Thank you, G! <3

  1. That guy is a keeper. Moleskin books are lovely. I think there's a huge list of famous writers and scientists who wouldn't use anything else- though that might be a convenient marketing myth.

  2. ah ha! Convient marketing myth or not, I can understand why! They are really lovely to write on and nice to hold in your hand.
